Spike got sick on us and he never recovered. After vet call to vet call, we decided just to make him as comfortable as possible. He died last night. It makes me upset, but we were going to have to either put him to sleep or get rid of him anyways. His hormone levels just got out the roof and he literally tried to kill me everytime I got near him. I will never have another male iguana again.. Ever. I plan on re-doing his cage and getting 2 females. RIP spike.

This is my fiance's and mine iguana, Spike. He isn't as buff as in this picture, the proportions are a bit out of whack. But don't tell him he's not all steriod like. He dun' no dat.
He is a baby still at 2 1/2 feet long.
This was done with boring ole crayola color pencils. ( < can't afford expensive ones lol)
The one we got in August is even younger than that, only about a foot long now from snout to tail tip. But boy, do they ever have personalities and are quite smart. I think you captured the iguana signature "lazy eye look" very well lol.
We're getting there. There is a book, "Green Iquana: The Ultimate Owner's Manual" by James Hatfield III, that really lives up to its title and has been helpful. He's quite the character, but definitely settling down at time goes.
This is kind of random, but I happened across this picture while I was looking for iguana pictures. I had an iguana named Spike myself for thirteen years. She was amazing, she was housebroken and extremely well behaved; the best pet I ever had. She recently passed away, in May, and your picture really spoke to me. She was my baby, a five-foot, scaly baby. Rest in peace indeed, both Spikes.
Iguanas sure are misunderstood. They are so much smarter than most people think they are. I just cant wait until me and my husband get a house so we can rescue one from a shelter.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article.
In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
Have a great time everyone and please fav this article so as many people can see the featured works. I would recommend seeing each one and faving them too.
